What are plastic-encased bearings:

Plastic-encased bearings generally refer to bearings coated with a layer of plastic. The plastic material is generally nylon PA, polyethylene POM and engineering plastics polypropylene, pp. The outer plastic has a certain hardness, impact resistance, friction resistance and a certain degree of self-lubrication.

Plastic-encased bearings are a newly emerging industry in China recently. They are widely used in mechanical equipment, industrial assembly lines, furniture and hardware accessories. According to different application purposes, the appearance of plastic-encased bearings can be made into different shapes, such as V-groove type, arc type, U-groove type, flat shape, V-groove shape, etc.

Plastic-encased bearings can be divided into the following categories according to materials:

 

1.POM/PA precision plastic bearings‌: suitable for precision machining, using POM or PA materials, with good mechanical strength and wear resistance, suitable for working temperatures of -60℃~100℃, high surface strength and smooth, basically no tension, good self-lubricating performance and low friction coefficient, can be used for precision and high speed operation.

 

2.‌PP/PE/UPE acid- and alkali-resistant plastic bearings‌: Suitable for acid- and alkali environments, using materials such as HDPE, PE, and UHMWPE, which can resist relatively weak acid- and alkali-crossing environments. For strong acid- and alkali environments, PVDF and PTFE materials can be used.

 

‌3.PVDF/PTFE corrosion-resistant plastic bearings‌: Suitable for strong acid- and alkali environments, especially PTFE can be used in acid and alkali situations of all concentrations, including HF and fuming sulfuric acid and nitric acid (above 98%).

 

‌4.PEEK/PI high-temperature resistant plastic bearings‌: Suitable for high-temperature environments, PEEK and PI materials can maintain stable performance at high temperatures, among which PI materials can be used in a long-term environment of 290°C, and the short-term temperature resistance can reach up to 350°C, which is the best high-temperature performance among all known engineering plastics.

 

5. ‌PTFE/PVDF corrosion-resistant plastic bearings‌: Also suitable for corrosive environments, providing excellent corrosion resistance and protecting bearings from chemical erosion.

Application of ‌Plastic-coated bearings

1.‌Mechanical equipment‌: Plastic-coated bearings are widely used in mechanical equipment, including but not limited to various industrial equipment and mechanical parts. The plastic materials are generally nylon PA, polyoxymethylene POM and engineering plastics polypropylene, pp. The outer plastic has a certain hardness, impact resistance, friction resistance and certain self-lubrication, and is suitable for occasions that require wear resistance, corrosion resistance and self-lubrication.

 

2.‌Industrial assembly line‌: Due to the good wear resistance and self-lubrication of plastic-encased bearings, their application in industrial assembly lines is also very common, which can reduce maintenance costs and improve production efficiency.

 

3.‌Furniture and hardware accessories‌: In furniture and hardware accessories, plastic-encased bearings can provide smooth rotational movement, increase the service life of the product, while maintaining a good appearance.

 

4.‌Marine equipment‌: Due to the continuous corrosion risk in the marine environment, the application of plastic-encased bearings in marine equipment can provide good seawater resistance, especially in low-precision, low-load and low-speed application scenarios.

 

5.Food and Beverage Equipment: In the food industry, plastic-encased bearings can cope with a variety of corrosion hazards and provide alternatives while avoiding the risk of lubricant contamination of food.

 

6.Pharmaceutical or Chemical Equipment: In the pharmaceutical or chemical industry, plastic-coated bearings can cope with a variety of chemicals, provide acid and alkali resistance, and are suitable for a variety of chemical application scenarios.

 

7. Vacuum or Clean Room Equipment: Since plastic bearings run cleaner, do not require lubrication to operate, and will not rust, their application in vacuum or clean room equipment can provide low-load, semi-precision application solutions.
